Context of the project

The aim of the project was the visual identity design of a volleyball club Aluron Warta Zawiercie. It was created in 2010 based on an old team that had existed in Zawiercie. Nowadays the club uses only the sign which borrows colours from Zawiercie city crest. I decided that it more beneficial will be to design a completely new identity Rather than correct the current one. Requirements put by any sports club for a graphic designer is quite different from this put by a firm or institution.

Requirements

The identity of the volleyball club has first of all a social function. It makes identification with the team simpler, and with other fans of the team too. A visual style builds the image to determine the organization for which the system was created. That impression will stay in mind for a long time. If an organization, in this case, a volleyball club provides a particular sort of emotions during the match, packaging them in suitable visual values gives additional quality thanks to the fact that it’s easier to gain viewers who are identifying with a team. It gives also a pleasure when the team is watched in action.

Current logo

The sign of the Warta Zawiercie has not been thought out or designed in fact. It is a black silhouette of an attacking volleyball player against a green ball with black text. At first glance, you can see that the colours of the logo are based on the coat of arms of the city of Zawiercie. The city's coat of arms is in the shape of the 15th-century European coat of arms. In the left field of the shield, on a background of green colour, there is a blue ribbon, which symbolizes the Warta river that originates in one of the city's districts. In the right part of the coat of arms, there are black and white stripes symbolizing the nearby mines.

Logo design

I assumed I couldn't follow the usual patterns. It was necessary to go in a different direction, a synthetic one. The sign was based on the shield shape of the Zawiercie coat of arms to connect the club more with the city. Basing the construction of a sign on a lettering composition is a good alternative to ideas in which the banality of associations that come at first thought is obvious. The letter "W" obviously comes from the name of the club. Thanks to this, a modern and simple sign were created, perfect for a young, developing club.

Identification elements

The range of practical part of the project includes a base collection of accidentals which is needed by almost every organizations to easy working inside or outside firm. Things like business cards, business paper or envelopes. I designed also a website layout and mobile app layout, which, can make contact with the team much easier. The project includes things which are necessary for a sports club like two kinds of clothes for players, or posters informing about approaching matches and of course tickets for these meetings.
